Church in the Wild

Four years after pentecost the disciples and the early Church had enjoyed a significant season of favor. Larger numbers were being converted to the faith. People were fellowshiping, worshiping, and sharing life together. When persecution or problems popped up, God seemed to show out in visible ways growing and invigorating the young church’s faith. It would seem that the promise of Acts 1:8 (Jerusalem, Samaria, ends of the earth) would never require them leaving the comfort of their gathered community in Jerusalem. Acts 7 transitions the entire story. In Acts 6/7 a divine scattering takes place through the persecution and death of Stephen. What follows is a series of weird and wild ministry stories as the Church grew from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth.
